Abduction creates panic
April 30, 2014 00:00:00
A news item titled "All are silent but are in panic" has drawn my attention. Seven people were abducted in broad daylight from Dhaka-Narayanganj link road, adjacent to which the Police Super's office is situated.
Understanding the magnitude of the deteriorating situation, one of the veteran leaders of Awami League, Suranjit Sengupta said, "Abduction and forced disappearance have increased in the country"
One of the renowned daily's headline was, "Abduction all around". Under this headline I read the news of abduction of four people, including a farmer. Not very long ago Abu Bakar Siddique was abducted.
The BNP leaders, yesterday, came up with a claim that 310 leaders and activists of the party were killed and disappeared where the police, RAB and Awami League men might have been involved during the last 14 months. Abduction of Ilias Ali is also fresh in our mind. People want to live without fear and in peace.
