Fortune Magazine, the US-based influential magazine, has rated BRAC Founder and Chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed as one of the world's 50 greatest leaders. It is a matter of great honour for every Bangladeshi. Fazle Hasan Abed, the man behind the success and reputation of the BRAC, has transformed the BRAC into the world's largest non-profit organisation from the scratch. It has now over 100,000 employees serving in Asian and African countries to bring the people there out of abject poverty and backwardness through various innovative ways. We hardly read any positive news about Bangladesh in the international media. Most of the time, we hog headlines for wrong reasons like political or natural disasters.
The name of Bangladesh has become synonymous to negative news. We are glad to see an exception. Bangladesh has plenty of talented people. What we need is to nourish them. We have a glorious history that should encourage us to build a bright future. Our country lacks a visionary leader who can take our country to the next level of development and prosperity.
Dr Yunus is also an international icon of Bangladesh and has great influence in the world. Illustrated personalities like Sir Fazle Abed and Dr Yunus will inspire our new generation to think outside of the box and take our country forward.
