A large number of the public buses and other vehicles in Bangladesh are unfit for roads. But they do not seem to face any problem plying the roads. And many of them do not even have legal paperwork. These buses and minibuses in the capital city lack a decent look, with their bodies carrying innumerable dents and their paints gone long since. Their continued operation is putting lives at risk and causing environmental pollution.
Unfortunately, the numbers of such unfit vehicles as well as unlicensed drivers, both major contributors to road accidents, are on the rise. The authorities concerned must do something about it.
