Administrative awareness a must to combat drugs

May 10, 2025 00:00:00

Drug abuse is silently crippling our youth. At a time when young people should be building their futures, many are falling into addiction. In urban areas, the unemployed and frustrated are especially vulnerable, turning to easily available substances like yaba, phensedyl, and cannabis. It poses a grave threat to our nation's future.

Though laws exist, enforcement is often weak. Sometimes, powerful groups or corrupt officials are complicit, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to speak out. Administrative indifference and a lack of political will worsen the crisis.

The fight against drugs demands a united front. The police, public officials, teachers, religious leaders, and families must work together. Laws must be enforced, awareness raised, jobs created, and access to mental health support improved. Moral education and family care are essential to guide youth away from addiction.

We must act before we lose another generation to this deadly menace.
