Adulteration of baby food
November 14, 2025 00:00:00
Babies are the future of our nation and their proper care must be a priority. A crucial part of this care is ensuring they consume healthy foods. Today, however, unhealthy baby foods-such as formula with additives, chips, chocolates, juices and other sugary or processed items-are everywhere, attracting children's attention and displacing nutritious options.
These products are easily accessible, with multiple shops offering them near homes. When children see these foods, they often insist on having them, and if parents refuse, tantrums and crying usually compel adults to give in. Consequently, children consume items laden with chemicals, artificial colours and harmful ingredients, which can cause sickness and, in severe cases, serious health complications, even death.
If we are to ensure the proper growth and development of our children, providing nutritious, safe food is essential. Unhealthy baby foods must be avoided at all costs. The government, non-governmental organisations, and concerned citizens must raise their voices against companies producing such harmful products. Strong legal action and effective measures should be taken to eliminate these items from the market and safeguard our children's health.
