Day by day the medical care in our country is becoming increasingly expensive. Medical treatment in our country nowadays is such that it costs an arm and a leg. The health sector should not be like any other sector where profit rules the business. Our country has earned wide appreciation from across the world for being able to reduce maternity and post-maternity mortality rate, but we still have a long way to go. We shall have to make sure that all citizens irrespective of class and status, get quality medical treatment at affordable cost.
It is sad to note that two-thirds of our children below the age of five are under-nourished. We need to take a long-term plan so that our future generation is brought up as hale and hearty citizens of the country. Our leaders are too busy in squabbling among themselves and have very little time to think and act in the greater interest of the country. A country cannot go ahead without concerted efforts of its people. We indeed have a lot to do to bring about desired development of the country. It is by no means an easy task, rather a Herculean job. But we should move ahead undaunted and try our best to fulfil the basic needs of our people. Health is a crucial sector and the health ministry must take long-term planning to bring positive change in our health sector which at present is not in a healthy state itself.
