WASHINGTON, Sept 23 (AFP): Al-Qaeda has released a video to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks featuring its deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and footage of a US soldier captured in Afghanistan, a US-based monitoring group said Tuesday.
The 106-minute video, called "The West and the Dark Tunnel," also features Adam Gadahn, known as the Al-Qaeda operative "Azzam the American," according to a statement by IntelCenter.
"Footage of US soldier Bowe Berghdahl, who was kidnapped by the Taliban on June 30, 2009 and is still being held, appears in the video. The footage appears to be similar to previously released footage," IntelCenter said.
The center gave few other details about the video, but noted that Al-Qaeda typically releases such a video around this time each year to mark the attacks which took place in 2001.
