Alarming rise in divorce cases

It is clear from Dhaka city corporation's records that increasing number of divorce cases are being filed and women are filing more divorce cases than any other time in the past. Marriage is one of the oldest institutions in human history and its importance in holding society together can hardly be overemphasized.

It appears from the cases being filed that people are seeking divorce due to various reasons like physical abuse, extra-marital affairs, personality clash, etc. Many married men and women are being involved in extra-marital relationships. People are engaging themselves in this kind of immoral activities through mobile phones and internet. We see newspaper reports everyday featuring incidents of murder due to extra-marital or illicit relationships. In most cases children are the worst sufferers. If society fails to curb moral degradation of this kind, we shall soon find ourselves in the medieval age which is known as "the age of darkness or ignorance".
