Alarming rise of AIDS patients

The number of AIDS infections and deaths from the disease is increasing day by day in Bangladesh, according to a study of the Directorate General of Health Services. A total of 1,276 new AIDS patients have reportedly been identified in the country this year. Of them, 266 have died. This is the highest number of infections and deaths reported in Bangladesh in a year. This is alarming and a clear call for us to address this deadly disease urgently.
Instead of stigmatising individuals, we all must consciously work towards eliminating the misconceptions of AIDS and avoid harassing patients who are already suffering from a lifelong health crisis. Proper counselling should be provided to those affected and their families so that patients can lead a relatively normal life.
