A great job done by Bangladesh! The Tigers excelled in all departments of the game, batting, bowling and fielding, and achieved their first victory in the opening match against Afghanistan in 2015 World Cup cricket.
The Tigers scored 267 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, while Afghanistan scored 162 in 42.5 overs giving Bangladesh a victory by 105 runs.
Our hats are off to Mushfiqur Rahim, the former skipper and Shakib Al Hasan, the top all-rounder of the world, for their superlative batting display that helped Bangladesh reach a comfortable and overwhelming victory. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 71 with 6 fours and a six, while Shakib notched 63 with same number of fours and six. He also captured 2 wickets for 43 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim's batting and wicket keeping earned him the coveted 'Player of the Match' title. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza also played well taking 3 wickets for only 20 runs and scoring 14 runs with the bat.
We sincerely wish that the Tigers will continue in the same vein in the upcoming matches and bring more laurels for the country.
