Anti-adulteration drive

May 22, 2014 00:00:00

Drive against adulterated food and fruits should continue steadfastly as consumers always run the risk of purchasing substandard and adulterated food and fruits. Though at present there are stringent rules in place but unscrupulous businessmen are flouting the rules and continuing with their extremely unethical practices. Recently, in Kushtia, two children died after eating adulterated fruits and many people were also infected. So, it is imperative to carry on anti-adulteration drive on a regular basis so that profit hungry businessmen get exemplary punishment. It is observed that regular drive helps curb adulteration to some extent. The drive must be carried across the country.

Chemicals, formalin and harmful substances are used to preserve food and fruits. Harmful substances are mixed with fruits such as banana, mango, apple, grape, lichies etc., to extend their shelf life for a longer time. Having consumed these fruits, one can get infected with diseases like cancer, liver cirrhosis and many other incurable diseases. Children are more vulnerable to food adulteration. It is our solemn appeal to authorities concerned to carry out anti-adulteration drive on regular basis for safety the mass people.
