Appointment of medical technologists

Medical technologists are integral to today's medical treatment. But a number of posts of medical technologists are vacant in different public hospitals. So, patients are not getting required services. They are rushing to private diagnostic centers and paying abnormally high charges. Doctors, nurses and medical technologists complement each others for effective medical treatment. The government had appointed more than four thousand doctors in the last decade. Four thousand nurses were also appointed. But there is no new recruitment of medical technologists. Newspaper reports said that more than 2,500 posts of medical technologist are vacant in different government hospital, dispensaries and Upazial health complexes.
Good news is that written test and viva voce of 1,200 medical technologists have been completed in February this year. Selected candidates are waiting for appointment now. The appointment process should be expedited without any delay. Recruitment, selection and appointment process for the rest of the vacant posts should be initiated immediately.
