Asian Games cricket: Our prospect
September 20, 2014 00:00:00
It is heartening to learn that the name of Bangladeshi ace cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the 17th Asian Games cricket. At the Asian Games Shakib will be back in the professional cricket. The sport-loving people are eager to see a new Shakib playing for Bangladesh and contributing his part. The visiting national cricket team in the West Indies surely have felt the absence of Shakib Al Hasan as in the second Test the Tigers could not score 200 runs in either of their innings.
In international cricket the Tigers have seen no success in the last one year and their performance has been rather poor and lacklustre during the period. Shakib has faced a turbulent time in the recent past but he is gradually overcoming and we hope he will put his 100 per cent to revitalize Bangladesh cricket. Mashrafee will lead Bangladesh in the Asian games and I hope he will be able to bring back Bangladesh into winning streak. I hope the Tigers will put some good display of cricket in the Asian games. Bangladesh should win the gold medal in the Asian Games as India and Pakistan are not contesting in the tournament. In such a situation the Tigers will face only Sri Lanka as a real challenge to overcome.
