Australia proves its supremacy in women\\\'s cricket
April 08, 2014 00:00:00
Although the Australian (men) Cricket Team hugely disappointed its supporters in the recent Twenty-Twenty World Cup but the women team didn't. It won the fourth ICC Women Twenty-Twenty World Cup emphatically beating England women's team by six wickets. The Australian (men) Cricket Team can take heart from the women's team and learn how to play on the slow and turning pitches of this sub-continent. The Australian women cricket team has won for the third time consecutively and England won the Women's Twenty-Twenty World Cup once. It is good to see that the women are also playing good cricket. Many young girls will be attracted to cricket. Women cricket is relatively a new concept in our country but I am sure Bangladeshi women will take no time to be counted among good women cricket teams. Initially, women's T-20 cricket was played little at international level, with only four matches played by the end of 2006. But soon the number of matches increased. Our women cricket team got one day status in 2011. Cricket is a very popular game in Bangladesh and I am sure the women's cricket will also gain much support from the spectators soon. Congrats to Australia for winning the coveted World Cup Trophy and all the teams participated in the tournament.
