Australian military hit by sex assault claim

SYDNEY, Oct 9 (AFP): A female soldier serving with Australian forces in Afghanistan was allegedly sexually assaulted on a military base, officials said Sunday, just days before the release of a report into defence abuse cases.
The soldier, whose rank and age have not been released, reported the assault at the Tarin Kot base in restive Uruzgan province to her superior officer on Wednesday, defence officials told.
