Bangladesh: Destination for investment
March 09, 2015 00:00:00
Bangladesh is a beautiful country with oodles of opportunities for foreign investment. Recently Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of different pioneer firms of Japan published a report about investment destinations that will yield the highest return. According to the report, Bangladesh occupies overall second position, just after India. China was heading the list just a couple of years ago. Despite political dilemma, it is really good news for us.
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) highlighted a few points, like low production cost, low tax rates, adequate cheap labour, government incentives, etc. It considers these criteria conducive to new investments and observes that maximum return on investment is possible here in Bangladesh.
The JETRO authority states that Bangladesh is its second choice and the CEOs of different mega firms want to reschedule their investments in Bangladesh. The government has been taking necessary steps, e.g. cash incentive, tax rebate, tax holiday, infrastructural development, special economic zones and EPZ to develop a healthy investment environment. The government should now take care of the rising political tension to encourage increased FDI (Foreign Direct Investment).
