The Bangladesh Railway provides several services prior to the holy Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-ul-Azha every year. This year the railway authority has added a total of 135 compartments to the current fleet on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and all cargo trains will be suspended from three days before Eid to ease the traffic. But every year we see that many people cannot manage a seat inside the compartment and have to travel on rooftop. Some people buy tickets from black market at an exorbitant price. There is e-ticketing system but most people cannot take any advantage of it.
The train schedule is another big problem. During Eid, authority cannot maintain train schedules as a result of which people have to suffer a lot. Normally during Eid holidays people want to go to their village homes to celebrate the festival with near and dear ones. So the authority should ensure that all trains run on schedule and passengers can reach in time. If the BR can solve this problem, it can be a profitable organization.
