Bangladesh: transit point of gold smuggling

It seems that gold smuggling is on the rise as we often read about customs officials seizing huge amount of gold from the airports. Recently, 106 kg gold was found in the toilet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. It is suspected that Bangladesh is being used as a transit point to smuggle this gold out to India as the Indian government increased import duty on gold by 10 per cent in last January and it encouraged the smugglers to use Bangladesh as a transit point.
Smuggling is not good for our economy as it weakens it. A mechanical engineer has already been arrested for being involved in this 106 kg gold smuggling case. It is clear that a section of unscrupulous employees of Biman and the airport are connected with it. The smugglers have a strong syndicate and the law enforcers need to break it. The law enforcers and customs officials should increase their vigil at every point as the stiff measures will discourage smuggling. Bangladesh airport authorities should install latest technology in order to prevent smuggling by airways. The staff of the airport and customs officials should be posted by rotation so that the smuggler syndicates don't get much scope to allure them to join their illegal business. If we want, we can reduce smuggling to a great extent.
