Bangladeshi workers\\\' death in Saudi fire incident

May 15, 2014 00:00:00

Ten Bangladeshi workers died in a fire incident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Two Indian nationals also died in the same incident. The fire swept through a furniture factory. The families, losing their beloved members, are in problems as many of the victims went to Saudi Arabia to change their fates but now they have lost everything. I hope the Expatriate Welfare Ministry will adequately compensate the families of the deceased workers as their untimely death have brought serious misfortune to their families as many of them were sole bread earners of their families. The government should introduce an insurance system for the people go abroad for work so that their families are not financially unprotected if anything bad happen to them.

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia always welcomes Bangladeshi labour force as they are diligent and hard working. Many Bangladeshis changed their luck by dint of their hard work and honesty in Saudi Arabia, a lucrative destination for the Bangladeshi workforce. I hope the government will protect the interest of the expatriates. We must not forget our economy owes big time to the expatriates as they play a big role in rolling our economy and making it robust. It is high time we stand beside the victims of the fire incident and express our solidarity with our words and actions.
