Beggars in Sylhet city

Beggars have become a part of daily life in Sylhet. There are plenty of them on the streets of the city often with missing limbs, physical deformities and naked babies hanging from their arms. When you are sitting in a car on the road due to traffic jams, they will be hobbling their way through the traffic.

There are many child beggars as well. Giving money to these children helps perpetuate the situation.  Sometimes, the beggars will fall down on  your feet and will not let you go even when you want to. Perhaps it is our destiny that large multitudes of people are beggars. If they are not properly rehabilitated immediately, days are not very far when Sylhet will turn into a sanctuary for beggars.
