It was our long cherished dream to have a public university in Rangpur. We, the people of Rangpur division convey our thanks to the last caretaker government for establishing the university here. It was expected that the university will contribute a lot to improve the standard of education by providing quality education. Sorry to say, even after six years of its establishment, this university is far from meeting the expectation of students and people of this region. Shortage of teachers, administrative inefficiency, lack of infrastructure and most importantly recruitment of poor quality teachers and employees are impeding the quality education of the university.
Beside education, a university is supposed to provide some other facilities to its students so that they become able to nurture their latent talents. But we, the disadvantaged students are not getting any other facilities like residential halls, medicare, teacher-student centre, students' clubs, enough transportation, play grounds, laboratory, conference centre, and cafeteria from this university. The inability of the university administration and the authority concerned to provide quality education and other facilities of a university is consequently leading to a huge expectation gap among the students. However, to protect the interest of the students and the university itself, a comprehensive plan, proper implementation and supervision by the UGC and the government are needed on a priority basis.
