Benefits of good teacher- student relationship

February 08, 2022 00:00:00

The student-teacher relationship is a unique one, where students learn from their teachers with deep respect, affection and love. A true teacher is a master craftsman, who tries to make his students shine with the light of knowledge. They not only learn textbook knowledge but also become good human beings with ethics and values. But now there seems to be a rift between the students and the teachers.

Due to the current education system, teaching appears to be bound within the educational institutions. Most teachers see teaching as a mere job. So, it is their official responsibility, nothing more than that. However, once it was thought to be a noble profession. We can now see many teachers getting involved in various misdeeds including selling questions, sexually harassing students, showing reluctance while teaching in the classrooms, and so on. Another reason for the lack of good teacher-student relationship at present is that there remains a long syllabus for a very short semester, and dependence on assignments. Every teacher should give their students some time to talk to them.

The educational institution is said to be the second home of the students. They are supposed to spend a long time with their teachers. If the teachers can spend some quality time with the students, they are sure to do better not only in their academic results but also in becoming good human beings. The authorities concerned should design our curricula in a way, which can ensure good ties between the students and the teachers.
