Beware of employment agencies

July 01, 2015 00:00:00

There has been a mushroom growth of employment agencies in the country over the last few decades. The employment agencies have emerged both as a blessing and a curse. A large portion of job seekers who are university graduates visit offices of these agencies with the hope of finding a suitable job. Some agencies try to help them, while there are others who take the innocent job seekers for a ride and extract money out of them on various pretexts, such as, 'registration charges', 'verification fee' etc. Instead of helping them find a job, they only add to their miseries.

To protect one against employment frauds, some precaution should be taken, like checking any documents for poor spelling and grammar. This is often a sign that fraudulent persons are at work. Furthermore asking embassy of the country where one will be working about the process of obtaining visa and its cost and checking the potential employer's official record whether the job has been actually offered. Maintaining records of all communications or transactions and documents (like receipt and any letter they offer) is also vital. One needs to be aware of automated reply for depositing to their bank account after sending resume. Employers charge genuine agencies. Any company or agency charging anything from a candidate means this is a total cheating. If anyone faces this kind of situation, the police should be informed.
