BRTC: Maintained poorly and inefficiently
June 04, 2015 00:00:00
The state-operated bus service BRTC is in shambles and most of the buses are in bad shape. These buses are not properly maintained and that is why people do not normally prefer to travel in a BRTC buses. The buses have been imported from India three years back and it is sad to see that in such a short time they have worn such a bad shape. These are likely to be out of service soon if they are not taken care of immediately. Dhaka is a city of 16 million people, but compared to its population its transportation system is not only inadequate but also badly managed. If BRTC buses are maintained well, they will remain roadworthy for a long time which will bring relief for the commuters. Going from one place to another in Dhaka city is a real hassle. A journey of 10 kilometres often takes one to two hours which is a sheer wastage of our valuable time. Additionally, it also takes us longer to complete our day to day activities. I hope BRTC will take up this matter seriously with a view to improve our transport sector. It is high time we bring positive changes in our transport scenario.
