Burgeoning corruption and ineffective ACC

December 02, 2014 00:00:00

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has lost its effect and respect and has become a stooge in the hands of the ruling class which is a sad state of affairs. The corrupt people know, if they are with the ruling people they will enjoy impunity from punishment. The government cannot avoid their intervention to make this important institution active. Due to ACC's inactive role we see the graph of corruption rising higher and higher and the common people are suffering. Now the common people are not surprised when they come across an honest public servant, because corruption has become the order of the day and honesty is a rarity. I hope the civil society and conscious people of our country will create pressure in every possible way and compel the government to let the ACC work independently so that ACC can work and take steps against the corrupt people no matter how big and powerful they may be.
