Burgeoning Swiss bank account

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that she has asked for a list of the people who have accounts in Swiss banks. It is understandable that persons having such accounts have laundered huge amounts of money through illegal means and gross corruption. We hope, when available, the government will publish the list so that the common people can see the real faces of corrupt people who are plundering our country and depriving the majority from their rightful share of economic prosperity.  

The prime minister further said that her government would take steps to bring back the black money from the Swiss bank.  When the perpetrators are detected we hope the government will mete out punishment to them. If the perpetrators who amassed huge illegal wealth through corruption are unmasked and punished and the illegal money is forfeited, no one will dare do the same in future.

The news of Swiss banks having many accounts of Bangladeshi citizens has embarrassed the nation. Most of the common people are deprived of even getting basic rights like education, medicare, sanitation and safe water facilities. On the other hand, a group of corrupt people are having a life of luxury and affluence. It is high time we showed the corrupt people red cards and ensured exemplary punishment for them bringing the much needed order in our society.
