Can we export CEO?
July 02, 2015 00:00:00
CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is the top position of a firm or a company with oodles of responsibility as well. Recently CEO has become a saleable commodity, especially in western countries. Several business surveys show India leading the position in terms of providing CEOs. The business review forum tried to discover the mystery behind India becoming a provider of CEOs.
To name a few, we have Satye Nadella (CEO of Microsoft), Indira Nooyi (CEO of PepsiCo), Shantanu Narayan (CEO of Adobe System), Rakesh Kappur (CEO of Reckitt Benkizer) and so on. The Indian Institute of Management and Indian Institute of Technology are the two institutions that have been producing brilliant CEOs over the years.
We also have a few institutions in Bangladesh like IBA, BIM, etc. which could be further developed and utilised successfully to produce business executives of international standard. There are also prominent engineering institutions, such as, BUET, KUET, etc. where students can be developed and groomed as industrial executives, who can lead the management team of industrial concerns.
To do this we should focus on providing quality education rather than quantity. We have unlimited talents in our country and if we can provide quality teacher and ensure quality education for them, I am sure, like India, we shall soon be able to furnish CEOs for multinational giants.
