Check the price of dates

Muslims traditionally prefer dates as the main ingredient for Iftar after fasting all day. However, this year, just before Ramadan, the price of dates has skyrocketed, making it unaffordable for lower and middle-class people. When questioned about this, officials suggested consuming plums instead of dates for Iftar. This raises the question: are the imported dates only accessible to the elite?
Since Muslims fast to seek the pleasure of Allah and strive to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), breaking the fast with dates holds special significance. It is narrated in a Hadith Sharif by Anas that the Prophet Muhammad (Sm) used to break his fast with semi-ripe dates before praying. This underscores the importance of breaking the fast with dates according to the Sunnah.
Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the price of dates remains affordable and calls for taking actions against unethical traders. Let the lower and middle classes also observe the tradition and enjoy the health benefits associated with breaking fast with dates during Iftar.
