Checking increasing prices of essentials

Despite adequate supply of seasonal vegetables at the kitchen markets, their prices are increasing every week. Additionally, prices of chicken and eggs are also on the rise thus worsening consumers' woes.

I work at a private firm and receive a fixed salary at the end of each month. Every year I get a five per cent increment on my gross monthly salary. But if I calculate my earnings while taking into account the inflation which is nearly six per cent, it will be seen that every year I am actually earning less than before. Due to inflation, people who survive with their families on limited income are facing difficult times. Worse off are the lower income households.
