It is sad that despite the High Court's clear directive, the government is yet to take tough tangible action against food adulteration. Our national health is under serious threat. Unscrupulous traders mix different types of chemical in food items so that those look fresh, ripe and can be preserved for long time. Whenever I buy banana, I find a white stuff, ripening chemical, on its skin. The taste of banana is not natural but we have no other choices.
In a recent media report it has been mentioned that excessive use of chemicals have been found in 40 per cent food sample which is alarming. Conscious people of our country must create awareness so that common people become conscious about the bad impact of chemical in food items. Rampant adulteration has reached a dangerous level which we cannot ignore anymore. It has gone out of all limits. Mere law is not enough. We must implement it so that the adulterators cannot endanger the lives of common people. The government should go tough on the importers of banned chemicals and increase filed level monitoring. It is high time we made our food safe in order to save our people from health hazard.
