City parks need basic facilities

Dhaka city still has some parks that keep us connected to nature. These are the places for children to play and elderly people to spend some time in leisure. When so many people visit a particular spot, it becomes necessary to provide them with basic facilities. However, it is observed that many of our parks in the capital do not have public toilet facilities. In the absence of toilet facilities, young men are often seen relieving themselves in the open. Senior citizens, especially those who have diabetes, need to visit the toilet frequently.

Hence it becomes necessary to provide neat and clean toilet facilities for the elderly visitors to the parks. There should also be arrangements for drinking water in the parks. This is necessary so that the children can quench their thirst after spending their time playing. The authorities concerned should also provide sufficient security at these places. Adequate lighting of parks is also important. There should also be sufficient number of benches in the parks as well as dustbins at regular intervals.
