The authorities of the two Dhaka city corporations have reportedly claimed cent per cent removal of waste from sacrificial animals within nine hours. However, waste materials from sacrificial animals can still be seen piled up on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha by the roads of Dhaka South's Dania, Jatrabari, Matuail, Kajla and Jurain, where a cattle market was set up before the Eid. The bamboos installed for the cattle market have not yet been removed from some of the places.
Heaps of wastes piled on the lanes have made it difficult for the battery-run rickshaws and auto-rickshaws to ply. It is even difficult to walk outside due to the stench. We urge the Dhaka South City Corporation authorities to look into the issue and remove animal wastes as soon as possible.
