Combating corruption in public projects

In Bangladesh, corruption and a lack of transparency in public projects remain significant challenges. Large-scale infrastructure projects are frequently delayed, poorly managed, or burdened with inflated costs due to corrupt practices, despite efforts to improve governance. This results in a waste of taxpayers' money and prevents essential development from benefiting ordinary people.

The government must take decisive action to ensure transparency throughout the entire project lifecycle, from procurement to completion. Strengthening the role of oversight bodies, enforcing accountability, and encouraging public participation in project monitoring are crucial steps towards reducing corruption. Without such measures, public confidence in these initiatives will continue to erode.

To ensure that Bangladesh's development meets its full potential, it is imperative that both the public and authorities work together to demand integrity and transparency in public spending.
