It is good to read about the pledge of the communication minister that all roads will be repaired within 20th July, 2014 just before the Eid holidays to redress the sufferings of the home-going people. Although I would like to believe the words of the minister, I know how difficult is it to implement the hard task. Many roads and highways are badly damaged and it is not possible to fix it overnight and it is understandable that much time will be needed to repair the dilapidated roads and highways.
Why the communication ministry is waking up at the eleventh hour? Why it could not fix it before? Everyone knows that damaged roads create problems for commuters during Eid holidays. Again, hurriedly done work will create more problems in the long run as the quality of work will have to be compromised. Quality of work is also very important but repair work done in haste will surely lack quality and standard. Soon the homebound exodus from the city will start and we already see a great demand for transport tickets. We hope the communication ministry will be able to complete major portion of repair work so that the sufferings of home-bound people is lessened. We should learn to do our work on time as a stitch in time saves nine.
