Community Clinic at Janglaia, Feni
December 09, 2014 00:00:00
The catchments area of the community clinic at Jangalia under Dagun Bhuiyan upazila of Feni district serves the villages Jangalia, Sumaspur, Bat Shree, Mehdipur, Abdul Nobi and Jadabpur with a total population of 25 thousands. Jangalia and Sumaspur are two adjacent villages with 11000 people and they are provided Primary Health Care from Jangalia clinic. The other four villages - Abdul Nobi, Jadapur, Mehdipur and Bat Shree with population of 14000 are deprived of the service offered by the clinic..
Mehdipur is located almost at the middle of the villages-Abdul Nobi, Jadabpur and Bat Shree. It is nearer to these villages and well connected by pucca road. If a Community Clinic is established at Mehdipur, the people of these villages will be immensely benefited.
It may be mentioned, 95 per cent people of this village are landless poor. A community clinic in this village will be most welcome. It is to be noted here that some benevolent persons of this village are ready to donate land for the clinic.
It may also the mentioned here that Mehdipur is inhabited by a community of people known as Soners and Swarnakers, who are looked down upon by the people of other communities. In the locality they are known as Baidya Soners, Manta Soners etc.
I, therefore, fervently appeal to the honourable Minister for Health and Population Planning, to kindly accord a special permission for a community clinic at Mehdipur at an early date and take a step forward in fulfilling the commitment of the government to reach primary health care to the door steps of the people.
