Corrupt, and also morally bankrupt

September 03, 2014 00:00:00

The news about fake freedom fighters, merrily working at the highest levels of the country's administration, came as an ugly revelation. What is shocking is that these 'wrongdoers' are still serving the government.

In other job areas of Bangladesh, including the private sector, the employers would have sacked them immediately after the detection. Why have they been still retained in the government service? What is the reason behind it? They are not definitely setting glorious examples for the new generations. We would like to conclude they are out to prove that 'Bangladesh is a land of the corrupt'.

One fails to understand as to how such an act of deception can be tolerated. It becomes unimaginable to see such persons with proven lack of morals still at the top jobs of the state. These people should have been ashamed of their abominable acts.

To top it, these persons are now trying to assure the authorities that their children will not use their demand for quota for admission to educational institutions. I would like to know how these people will reply to their children's normal queries about this so-called assurance.

We are living in a country full of corruption. It can now be labelled also as morally bankrupt due to its failure to take punitive steps against even the people confessing their misdeeds. Small wonder that we are going down the drain; and the drain is getting deeper day by day.
