Covid-19 vaccine in the offing!
November 19, 2020 00:00:00
After almost a year's uncertainty, people now hope the vaccine to prevent coronavirus would arrive soon, as two companies in the US announced breakthroughs in research. Also China, the UK and Russia have reportedly made progress in their pursuit of a vaccine to save millions of lives from the deadly virus. Already, an innovator said the situation may come under control by the next winter.
That's still a 'long' year away but concrete results in the vaccine research would make people feel confident. In Bangladesh, we are waiting for what others develop. So, our concerns are limited to how best the vaccine can be distributed, considering the struggle the country's health system has gone through during the pandemic.
However, as the health crisis might be nearing its end, the tasks of rebuilding lives and economy could be challenging. Some resources have already been exhausted and new opportunities need to be created. It may be like a post-war situation when people get relief but there is no scope for being complacent as the next tasks are unavoidable.
