Creating service-providing agencies
October 01, 2014 00:00:00
We learn through media and government agencies that our foreign exchange reserve is increasing fast but as a Dhaka city dweller for the past 64 years, my experiences say that our amenities of life are not increasing proportionately with our foreign exchange reserve. The service-providing agencies seem to be unconcerned about redressing grievances of the city dwellers. Rashed Khan Menon Sarak in the Eskaton area remains too dirty with filthy, obnoxious dirty water gushing out from most of the manholes and flooding the surroundings. Waist-high garbage pile up here. The foot paths are no longer in existence. It becomes difficult to reach New Eskaton Zame Masjid as dirty watery liquids are oozing out from manholes and drains. Availability of WASA water was very difficult during the past months. It looks the agencies concerned have gone into a deep slumber.
It is time to create separate service-providing agencies like drainage authority, foot path cleaning authority, garbage removal authority and so on. As a taxpayer we can expect to enjoy minimum service.
