Criminals stalk Kamalapur railway station

December 19, 2014 00:00:00

Kamalapur is the largest railway station in Bangladesh. Thousands of people commute through this station daily. But the surroundings of the station leave a lot to be desired. Prostitutes, drug addicts and other delinquents live around the station and indulge in mischievous activities. They are not only polluting the environment, but are also involved in robbing and snatching people's belongings.

Members of law enforcing agencies are silent onlookers in most cases of criminal activities. Many people living in Basabo and Mugda who usually use the Kamalapur over-bridge to go to their destinations, find it difficult to negotiate this route regularly.

We, the people of these areas, urge the concerned agencies of the government to evict the miscreants permanently from the area.

As the station provides an important link for travelling to and from Dhaka, the authorities concerned should take immediate measures to drive away the unwanted elements and make the station clean. Since the government has attached more importance to railway communication, it is imperative that it pays due attention to the necessity of keeping the station and its surroundings clean, so that the commuters enjoy a comfortable and convenient journey to and from Dhaka.
