The e-token system introduced recently by the Indian High Commission at Dhaka was supposed to have made the Indian visa procedure easier and more traveller-friendly. But in reality it has only accentuated the sufferings of the visa seekers. Now a visa seeker needs to contact middle men to get an e-token who charges Tk 3000- Tk 4000. Most people have no choice other than to spend money and hire the services of middlemen to get an e-token. I have been trying to get an e-token on my own for the last three days, unsuccessfully though. Hundreds of visa seekers apply online everyday to get Indian visa and as the rush is heavy, the system does not appear to be working properly. I think, the Indian high commission should introduce more visa centres in and out of Dhaka so that the pressure on a few centres can be taken off and sufferings of the travellers can be reduced. I hope India and Bangladesh will introduce on-arrival visa system which will reduce the sufferings of the common people of both countries and increase business transactions and people-to-people contact.
