COPENHAGEN, Sept 19 (AP): The Danish army says one soldier has been killed and another was injured after they came under fire during a patrol in southern Afghanistan.
Kim Grunberger of The Army Operational Command says the troops were patrolling by foot in Afghanistan's Helmand province when they came under attack from insurgents.
The wounded soldier has been flown to a field hospital for treatment.
Denmark has now lost 25 soldiers in Afghanistan since it joined the US-led coalition in 2002.
The Nordic country has about 700 troops serving in the NATO force in Afghanistan. Most of them are based in the volatile southern Helmand province.
