Deadly attack in Sri Lanka

Bomb blasts in three churches and several hotels of Sri Lanka on April 21 (Sunday) have shocked the world. At least 290 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. As many of the victims are still in critical condition, the death toll is likely to rise.
The incident took place on Easter Sunday. This is an act of terrorism similar to the recent attack on two mosques in Christchurch of New Zealand. Terrorism is not a problem of one single country. The world needs to be united in its fight against such extremism.
No one claimed the responsibility of Sunday's attack in Sri Lanka. Police have arrested some people so far. It is mind-numbing to think that some people can commit such heinous crimes on fellow human beings.
Zayan Chowdhury, the eight-year-old grandson of Awami League leader Sheikh Selim, died during the bomb blasts. Jayan's father Moshiul Huq Chowdhury Prince is injured and undergoing treatment in a hospital in Colombo at the moment. The family was enjoying a holiday in Sri Lanka.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. Until we stand united in our fight against terrorism, it is very likely that such incidents will continue to occur. The time to act is now.
