Deadly voyage to Europe

February 19, 2025 00:00:00

Dreams inspire people to move forward, but when those dreams push them towards death, they become a nightmare. Every day, countless young Bangladeshis attempt to reach Europe illegally in pursuit of a better life, higher income, and social security. However, this journey offers nothing but uncertainty, deception, and death. Typically, they take perilous routes-travelling from Dhaka to Libya to cross the Mediterranean or via Turkey to Greece and Germany. Along the way, they face human traffickers' brutality, starvation, thirst, robber attacks, and deadly boat capsizes. Even those who manage to reach their destination are met with an uncertain future. Most illegal migrants cannot find jobs due to a lack of proper documents, live in fear of law enforcement, and are forced to work under inhumane conditions. Economic crises, unemployment, political instability, and social pressures push them into the hands of traffickers who lure them with false promises and rob them of everything. To put an end to this deadly journey, a coordinated effort from the government, NGOs, and the international community is essential. Raising awareness, cracking down on traffickers, creating job opportunities, and simplifying the legal immigration process are crucial steps.

Dreaming big is good, but if it comes at the cost of life, it holds no value.
