Dealing with online gaming addiction

December 23, 2023 00:00:00

Online games have taken the world by storm in recent years. The wave has reached Bangladesh too. A number of youths are active players of these games and many are even addicted to it. As a result, many students neglect their studies and often find it difficult to concentrate on their studies. But most parents are unaware of this situation. According to the World Health Organization, it is called gaming disorder, which impairs a person's capacity to function normally in their daily activities due to their severe gaming habits. The amount of time the players spend looking at the screen is unsafe for their eyes. Also the bad posture is harmful for the spine. There are other threats to the human body from prolonged gaming.

The parents who consider these games as time-wasting hardly come to know that these games can be the cause of why some youth become aggressive or commit anti-social offences. The nature of these games is quite dangerous. There is nothing wrong in playing online video games as long as it is under control. But to ensure that the future generation remains healthy and active, parents must monitor their children's activities and also make sure that they remain active in real playgrounds and not just on the virtual ones only.
