Death in an unsafe house

Recently an illegally constructed two-storey tin shed house at Rampura collapsed killing 12 people and injuring many others. Living in such a condition is always dangerous but we seem to ignore the fact until a disaster befalls us. We shall find many such houses in our country. People who live at such places are aware of the risks involved, but they have very little choice. Getting a place to live in Dhaka is very difficult. Many unauthorized houses are there in the city built with blessings from powerful people and nobody dares evict them.
A ruling party leader has been responsible for the incident that took away the lives of so many people.  The government should adequately compensate the families of dead people along with those who are injured. Ironically human life has become a cheap commodity in our society. We see an incident creating an uproar and in no time everyone forgets about it and things remain as they were. I hope the government will take stern action this time to stop this practice and bring the offenders to book.
