Deceptive lure of clickbait news

November 16, 2023 00:00:00

It is almost impossible for many of us to spend a single day without going through newspapers and online news portals. But when reading news online, we are often lured by clickbaits - the headlines that are catchy and excite one's curiosity - and then find the article disappointing. We can understand that these stories get more clicks but in most cases they make the readers embarrassed. In these clickbaits, usually the content of the article is not what we are promised in the headline and often leaves us feeling unsatisfied. This can be called a kind of deception, mostly done by a number of lesser-known web portals. What these portals want is just clicks. For this, sometimes they even serve fake news. They increasingly make such pieces of news simply for earning money. The more clicks you get, the more people are on your site and the more you can charge for advertisement.

As news readers, what we want from journalists is to do justice to their profession by presenting a story with all the qualities it deserves. As online portals compete with each other, many of them try to break news, which has not yet happened. We urge the newsmen to be rational, professional and as much accurate as possible in their job so that we can read things that are real.
