LONDON, July 7 (AFP): Princess Diana's family Tuesday sold an important Old Master painting by Peter Paul Rubens for nine million pounds (13.6 million dollars, 10.8 million euros) at auction.
"A Commander Being Armed For Battle", which is thought to depict the 16th-century Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, was sold to an anonymous bidder at Christie's auction house in London.
The work by the Flemish artist, completed between 1612-1614, used to hang in Althorp which is the ancestral seat of Diana's family and the late princess's childhood home in central England.
