Digital security and misuse of technology

March 17, 2025 00:00:00

The modern era is defined by digital technology, with technological advancement making life more convenient and dynamic. However, misuse of technology and threat to related cybersecurity have posed new challenges. The improper use of the internet, social media, and digital platforms has led to rising incidents of personal information theft, cybercrime, fake news, and online harassment.

Personal information theft and cybercrime have become major concerns. Hackers employ various tactics to steal sensitive data, causing significant financial losses. Additionally, many individuals fall victim to fraud and harassment through fake social media accounts. The spread of fake news and rumours has further contributed to social unrest.

In this context, strengthening digital security and raising public awareness are crucial in preventing the misuse of technology. People must be educated on safeguarding personal information online, using strong passwords, and avoiding suspicious links. Schools, colleges, and universities should organise workshops on digital security to equip students with essential knowledge.

Therefore, I urge both the relevant authorities and the general public to prioritise digital security and promote responsible use of technology.
