Disappointing performance in Asia Cup

The performance of the Bangladesh cricket team in the T-20 Asia Cup was devastating. Tigers face back-to-back defeats against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan showcased their T20 credentials as they beat Bangladesh by seven wickets. Sri Lanka also pulled off a thrilling two-wicket win over Bangladesh. Thus, both the countries reached the super-four and Bangladesh crashed out of this year's campaign. In the last edition, the team was a finalist.
There was an expectation that the current edition would serve as a crucial platform for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup build-up. Superstar and all-rounder Shakib returned as captain of the Twenty20 side last month. His captaincy was not up to the mark, nor did his performance. Being an experienced cricketer, it is sad to see his failure to make any progress. Now he requested the countrymen for patience which sounds odd. He also argued that the Bangladesh team needed to play more with their heads. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also cannot avoid responsibility. Over the years, BCB has failed to work correctly to advance the country's cricket. The government has invested a lot in cricket. Thus a reasonable return is expected. It seems that BCB has no accountability at all. The time has come to make the BCB accountable to people.
