It will be a serious mistake if religion is solely blamed for making discriminatory approaches. But attention must be given to the point that our society is highly responsible for making such discrimination. Sometimes, it is claimed by some feminists that Islam creates discrimination among the male and female but most of the time the framework of society is not cited. It is a matter of great regret that discrimination is made even among the females from the viewpoint of fairness. The concept will be clearer if the contexts of the Bangladeshi advertisements are taken into consideration.
"Shonar Cheye Oporupa"- most probably no one is left who is not familiar with this 'very popular' statement. From that particular advertisement containing the mentioned statement an essence of severe discrimination can be easily identified if looked at closely. The statement signifies that only those who have a gorgeous look will receive fair treatment from society. The advertisement may not be a source of satisfaction for those girls who do not look so fair.
Only the fair girls must not be considered a part of society. The girls who are less fair are also human beings and they also have the rights to enjoy all kinds of benefits provided by society. If a division is always marked between the fair and the unfair, it will be a serious threat to women.
